44 arrested in multi-agency operation

SINGAPORE: Forty-four people have been arrested in a multi-agency operation led by the Bedok Police Division and supported by the Gurkha contingent of the Singapore Police Force.

They were arrested for various criminal offences including vice-related and gambling activities, drugs and immigration offences.

Those arrested are largely foreigners with work permits.

A statement by the police said the multi-agency operation that ended early Wednesday morning involved officers from Bedok Police Division, Central Narcotics Bureau, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority as well as Singapore Customs.

The operation consisted of raids carried out at a forested area off Tampines Street 61.
