Police have arrested a 40-year-old man for suspected involvement in a break-in reported at a housing unit in Jurong West last month.
A victim lodged a police report on Dec 21 after discovering at around 6am that his mobile phone and ez-Link card were stolen from his bedroom.
The items were last seen in the bedroom near the window which faces the corridor.
After extensive ground enquiries, the suspect was arrested at Boon Lay Place yesterday (Jan 9) at 1pm.
Police recovererd the stolen ez-Link card from his possession but the mobile phone had been disposed by the suspect.
The suspect will be charged in court tomorrow for housebreaking and theft, which is punishable with imprisonment for up to 14 years and a fine.
Police advise the public to ensure that all doors, windows and other openings are properly secured with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks, and to keep large sums of cash in banks and expensive jewellery in a safe deposit box.
All doors and windows should be secured before retiring to bed or when leaving the house unattended, even for a short while.
