4 youths arrested for fire mischief

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested four youths, 2 males and 2 females aged between 12 and 15 for suspected involvement in a case of mischief by fire.

A group of youths had used lighted matchsticks to burn stacks of flyers around Block 411 Serangoon Central on Dec 20. The group fled after police arrived, but one was caught after police conducted foot patrols.

The remaining three culprits were then traced and arrested through follow-up investigations.

Anyone who is convicted of mischief by fire shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.
