SINGAPORE: A 32-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for posing as an HDB contractor in more than 20 cases of cheating.

The man persuaded the victims to change their old wooden doors and metal gates and received cash payments in advance by issuing invoices, claiming to install the doors or gates in a few days time. He even left an identity card number behind in some cases.

He later became uncontactable to the victims and the new doors or gates never materialised.

The conman was arrested along Geyland Road at about 6pm on Thursday. A stack of invoices and some door and gate brochures were also seized as case exhibits.

The suspect was charged in court on Friday with cheating and remanded for further investigation.

This is the second arrest of such a conman within the last two weeks.

Police were informed of several cases of cheating using this method involving elderly victims.
