3 nabbed for m-cycle theft, ramming cop

Three teenage boys suspected of stealing a motorcycle and running it into a police officer have been arrested.
Aged 16, 17 and 18, the trio are believed to have stolen a motorbike from a Yishun carpark on Wednesday, said a police statement released Friday.
Shortly after the owner of the motorbike reported the theft, the authorities received a call from a member of the public about a motorcycle being steered haphazardly around Yishun Central.
The police tracked down the vehicle, and an officer signalled for the rider to stop. But the rider deliberately accelerated and struck the policeman, who sustained abrasions on his arms and legs.
The rider and pillion passenger then fled. Police said preliminary investigations showed the trio had stolen the motorbike before two of them took it for a joyride.
All three were arrested on Thursday for theft of a motor vehicle and for carrying out a rash act causing hurt. If convicted, they face up to seven years' jail for the first charge, and a year's jail and/or a fine of up to $5,000 for the second offence.
