A MOBILE PHONE left behind by a fleeing teen loanshark runner led to his arrest and two other youths. The trio - two youths aged 18 and 16 and a teenage girl aged 14 - were caught on Wednesday for their suspected involvement in loanshark harassment. Police received a tip-off at about 1.15pm on Wednesday about two suspicious youths at a staircase landings in a block along Hougang Ave 8. A member of public tried to to detain the pair, who managed to escape during a struggle. But they left behind a bag containing cans of paint and a mobile phone. Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division later tracked down the three in the vicinity of Serangoon North Avenue 1 at about 4.05pm and arrested them. Preliminary investigation revealed that all the trio were involved in loanshark harassment by scrawling loanshark-related graffiti and splashing paint at debtors' flats. A notebook believed to contain debtors' records were also seized from the teenage girl's possession. The 18-year-old male suspect will be charged in court on Thursday for loanshark harassment.
