3 arrested for theft from car
THREE men have been arrested for stealing from vehicles in a Yishun housing estate, police said on Monday. The young men, aged from 21 to 24 years, were caught after the police had been informed of their suspicious behaviour in a carpark at Yishun Street 21. The three were seen trying to open a car door. Thirteen cash cards, an Autopass card and a duplicate vehicle key, were seized from the suspects' when they were arrested early on Monday morning.
According to officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division, the three men are also suspected of being involved in a series of theft from vehicle cases in the Yishun housing estate. The trio will be charged in court on Tuesday, and if found guilty could be jailed for up to three years, or fined, or both. People should remember to protect their vehicles from theft by parking in well-let areas, using anti-theft alarms and watching for suspicious characters in carparks, warned Acting Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, Superintendent of Police Manimaran Pushpanatan.
