SINGAPORE — The police have arrested 26 people for their alleged involvement in illegal gambling activities, following a five-day operation mounted by the Central Police Division.
In a news release on Wednesday (May 13), the police said that the 16 men and 10 women who were arrested were aged between 43 and 82. They are also being investigated for breaching safe distancing measures under the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations.
Cash amounting to S$8,499 were seized by the authorities in the operation that took place in Everton Park, Geylang Bahru, Temple Street and Jalan Besar.
The suspects were arrested for offences under the Common Gaming Houses Act and the Betting Act, the police said.
