239 arrested in joint enforcement blitz

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested 239 people for drug-related and various other criminal offences.
In the first operation, Ang Mo Kio Police Division led an 18-hour multi-agency enforcement on Aug 30.
It involved 140 officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau, Singapore Civil Defence Force, Singapore Customs and Criminal Investigation Department.
Two subjects were summoned for possession of contraband cigarettes.
The officers also detected breaches in fire safety regulations at two of the entertainment outlets.
The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) also conducted a series of joint, multi-agency operations over a 5-day period in various parts of Singapore.
A total of 200 suspects were arrested and drugs worth more than $159,000 were seized. It included about 1.4kg of heroin, 35g of 'Ice', 22 Erimin-5 tablets and 6g of ketamine.
In the first operation, officers from CNB, the Bedok Police Division, Special Operations Command and Singapore Customs nabbed 84 people over drug offenders charges.
The operation targeted various locations in eastern Singapore and lasted 15 hours from Aug 27 to 28.

Police Division conducted house visits and spot checks at public areas in the western part of Singapore.
They arrested 11 suspected drug offenders over the seven-hour operation on Aug 28.
The last operation on Aug 30 was held in the northern part of Singapore.
Officers from CNB, Singapore Police Force and Criminal Investigations Department, among other agencies arrested 28 people on drug-related charges.
In another operation on Aug 27, CNB arrested three male suspects - two Malaysians and a Singaporean - suspected of being drug traffickers in Yishun.
They also arrested four Singaporeans aged between 39 and 45 on suspicious of drug abuse charges.
A total of about 796g of heroin and 4g of ice were sized from this raid.
Investigations are still on-going.
