22 motorists nabbed for drink driving in islandwide sting

SINGAPORE: Traffic Police arrested 22 motorists for drink driving in an islandwide operation conducted in the early hours of Thursday.
The men, aged between 22 and 60, failed the breathalyser test and will be disqualified from driving for at least one year upon conviction.
First-time offenders will be disqualified from driving for between one and four years, and fined between S$1,000 and S$5,000.
Repeat offenders may be jailed for up to three years and fined up to S$30,000. They may also receive up to six strokes of the cane should their actions cause death or serious injury. - CNA/ac
