21-year-old steals from friend's bank account

SINGAPORE - A 21-year-old woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing from her friend after acquiring her Automated Teller Machine (ATM) Personal Identification Number (PIN).

The victim, a 29-year-old woman, had revealed her PIN during a casual conversation and had gotten hold of the ATM card during another meeting.

On April 29, the victim made a police report claiming that there had been an unauthorised withdrawal from her account.

After the report was made the police were able identify the suspect through follow up investigations and apprehended her in Hougang on June 9.

Initial investigations revealed that the 21-year-old had withdrawn $500 from the account after getting hold of the ATM card.

If found guilty she can face up to three years in jail and a possible fine.
