SINGAPORE — A Singaporean man was killed in a collision between a tour van and a lorry in Malaysia on Monday afternoon (11 March).
The accident occurred in Semporna, Sabah, and claimed the lives of a 60-year-old Singaporean and a 40-year-old Vietnamese national.
According to a report by Malaysian newspaper The Star, the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operations centre officer Riki Mohan Singh Ramday confirmed the identities of the deceased as Singaporean Lee Siong Huat and Vietnamese Ngo Trinh Buu Dung.
He said they were killed on the spot as a result of the accident, which occurred around 4pm at KM20 on Jalan Semporna-Tawau.

Multiple injuries reported

Malaysian news agency Bernama reported that three others suffered serious injuries: the 42-year-old Malaysian tour van driver and two Singaporeans aged 67 and 71.
Mazlan Sarman, the chief of Semporna Fire and Rescue Station, told the agency that two more Singaporeans, an 11-year-old girl and a 58-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The accident occurred when the tour van collided with a lorry before it skidded and crashed to the roadside. The 25-year-old lorry driver emerged from the incident unharmed.
The fire station received an alert about the incident at 4.03pm, prompting five officers and firemen to rush to the accident scene, which was located 20 kilometres away from the station. The operations ended at 5.23pm.
