2 men arrested for loanshark harassment

SINGAPORE - Two men, aged 26 and 29, have been arrested for their suspected involvement in loanshark harassment around Singapore.
Officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division conducted a joint operation with officers from the Jurong Police Division after receiving reports of harassment activities between Jan 13 and 20.
After their identities were established, the two suspects were nabbed on Jan 21 and 22 at Woodlands Road.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the two suspects are believed to be involved in the reported cases of loanshark harassments, where loanshark graffiti were scrawled on walls.
Loanshark paraphernalia such as marker pens, papers with suspected debtors' addresses, mobile phones and motorcycles were also seized for investigations.
The suspects will be charged in court on Jan 23. If convicted, they face a jail term up to five years, a fine up to $50,000 and shall also be liable to a maximum of six strokes of the cane.
