<!-- end left side bar --> <!-- story content : start --> TWO more men have been arrested by the police for loansharking activities. The suspects, aged 34 and 41, were arrested in two separate cases. In the first case, police officers spotted a man behaving suspiciously at Block 301 Ubi Avenue 1 at 9.30pm on Tuesday. They checked on him and found several bank ATM cards on him. These items were believed to be linked to loansharking activities, and the 34-year-old was arrested on the spot.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is a debtor-turned-runner and had assisted the loansharks to perform banking transactions. The second suspect was nabbed on the same day at 9.45pm at East Coast Road. Police officers noticed two men behaving suspiciously and took action when they saw one man handing a sum of money to the other. Further investigation revealed one man to be a debtor and the second a runner who was collecting debts on behalf of the loanshark. Both suspects will be charged in court on Thursday for assisting loansharks.
