SINGAPORE – A 36-year-old car driver was arrested on Sept 30 after he was involved in an accident outside Khatib Polyclinic in Yishun, which left two pedestrians injured.

The police and Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the accident along Yishun Ring Road at about 10.20am.

Two female pedestrians, aged 67 and 81, along with the male car driver, were conscious when taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

The man was later arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicating substances.

E-vaporisers and related components were found in his car and seized by the Health Sciences Authority, the police and SCDF said, adding that investigations are ongoing.

An eyewitness told Chinese-language newspaper Shin Min Daily News that he saw two women bleeding profusely from their heads.

He added that the women were believed to have been struck by the car, a white Mercedes-Benz, as they were walking along the pedestrian crossing.
