Re: The Making Of

It's time to head to the nearest cinema to see this solid AT actor as Yuan Shikai!

Re: The Making Of

yes, agree! this show must watch!

Re: The Making Of

many years back he already acted in the same role in a chinese drama

Yes, a memorable performance from him. Sun Chun is his name.

But Winston Chao as Dr Sun Zhong Shan? There are a few AT actors who can do a better job than him. Guess him being a Taiwanese was the deciding factor to cast him as Sun Wen.

Oh yeah, founding of a Republic. I thought he was good as the mercurial Yuan Shi Kai, definitely not one dimensional as earlier portrayals

Re: The Making Of

Caught the movie!

Save for Sun Chun and Joan Chen's performances, I advice you go watch the TV serial Founding of a Republic better.

And what the heck, they tried to vilify Yuan Shikai in this movie again. Must be Jackie Chan's idea. Daft!

1911 was apparently not well-received in China by critics and box office like the rest of PRC state sponsored films on the Chinese republican era over the last few years.

why the sympathy toward Ah Yuan? he was an asshole. matter of fact.

Re: The Making Of

Jackie Chan and son in dramatic roles....knn think they just killed the movie....

I watched the movie solely because of Zhang Li ( the co-director), Sun Chun and Joan Chen. Kind of half-expecting Jackie and son will ruin it. :(

I compare how Yuan Shikai was portrayed in the TV series and in this movie played by the same actor. Clearly this time around, the actor was asked to exaggerate facial expressions leaving nothing to one's own imagination & interpretation. If I wanna watch dong dong chiang type one dimensional characterization, gimme local Channel 8 dramas anytime.

Yes Ah Yuan is an a$$hole but I see him more as an opportunist. You wanna be the top dog, you have to be a bad a$$. Too bad, he took one step too many in the end.

Re: The Making Of

btw, i think jackie chan trying to get into good books of china. he always has movies or act in movies about china in recent years.
if he so patriotic, he should direct a movie talking about japanese invasion in wordl war 2. but unlikely, cos he is popular in japan.

Re: Will The Portrayal Of Evil Chairman Mao Be Acceptable ?

I just watched the show recently with my friend.Well, nice to watch but not nice to swallow!!!Why why why???To those who watched, the last part got say something like, after the founding of the Republic the Communist continue what Sun Yat Sen had left behind!!!KNN, totally puke!!! Communist China really nasty.
They even dont dare to change history by telling the world Communist was the real founding of the Republic Of China.Yuan Shi Kai wanted to be the Emperor, but die because of illness.Sun was then elected as the President of the Republic Of China again. And the ROC flag and song was born.

The bloody CCB Communist China wanted to change history or tried to make every Chinese around the world to believe they are the real rightful ruler of China. To make us believe because of Communist Mao, China is changing into a mordenise country.More powerful then USA and more richer then any country in the world. They are trying to brainwash their own China citizens, and every Chinese in the world.

These video explain very well who is the rightful one as the Republic Of China!!!
