19 arrested in 2 cases of illegal betting and gambling

Police arrested 19 men in two separate cases of illegal horse betting, and operating and gambling at an illegal gambling den in a private apartment last Friday.
In the case of the illegal gambling den, 13 men aged between 18 and 35 were arrested.
Officers raided a private apartment at Siglap Road at about 12.30am in a four-hour operation.
Gambling paraphernalia such as chips and poker cards used for 'Texas Poker' as well as about $2,000 worth of cash were seized.
Police said that one of the 13 men rented the apartment unit for the purpose of operating an illegal gambling den in it.
If convicted, he may face a fine from $5,000 to $50,000 and a sentence of up to three years in jail. Investigations are ongoing.
