Microsoft will close its Silicon Valley research-and-development operation as part of 2,100 layoffs announced on Thursday, as it moves toward its new CEO's goal of cutting 18,000 staff, or about 14 per cent of its workforce.

News of the closure of the Microsoft Research lab at the company's campus in Mountain View, California, was first made public on Twitter by employees. The company later confirmed the move and said it would involve the loss of 50 jobs.

A spokesman said Microsoft Research, which has over 1,000 scientists and engineers worldwide working on new product ideas, will consolidate its US work at Microsoft's main campus in Redmond, Washington, and in offices in New York and Boston.

The red dot will be transforming from Sillypore to Shittypore to Stinkapore .....
FTs will be eating, drinking and shitting everywhere.
it's been happening now and more to come, all no thanks to the stupid FT policy for the sake of collecting more GST and rental.

Obviously these 18,000 Ah Nehs had not made a jot of money for MS bottomline at Silicon Valley, that's why they are sacking the parasites.

Now our PAP govt is only too happy to let them come here to suck their cocks and drag down our already sinking Swiss std of living.

Thanks, bros, for the good news.

I'm going to encourage my Americans friends who are into HR recruitment to send them over to Sinkieland. I'll get a cut from them. :)

Don't worry guys when a company announces restructuring or synergising.....its usually the locals that gets laid off first.....ah nehs can rest assured that Microsoft will continue on its quest of adopting and expanding its foreign talent policy.

There are already 900,000 ah nehs in SG. 18,000 is peanuts.
