SINGAPORE: Police have arrested a 16-year-old youth for involvement in loansharking activities in Yishun estate.
Police said the boy was arrested on Monday morning near Lorong Ah Soo.
Preliminary investigation showed the suspect had committed loanshark harassments at several units in Yishun housing estate by splashing paint and scrawling loanshark-related graffiti on the walls of the blocks.
The youth will be charged in court on August 6 with loanshark harassment.
If convicted, first-time offenders can face a fine of between S$5,000 and S$50,000, a jail term of up to five years, and caning of up to six strokes.
