15-year-old under investigation for making false police report

Posted: 20 July 2012 1827 hrs

SINGAPORE: A 15-year-old student is being investigated for making a false police report.

Police said the teen lodged the report at about 10pm on 16 July.

He had stated that an unknown female had threatened and attempted to extort S$250 from him after taking his student EZ-link card around Block 127, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6.

During investigations, inconsistencies surfaced in his report.

Police believe the student had lost his student EZ-link card and was afraid to tell his parents the truth.

Police believe he made a false report to avoid being scolded by his parents.
