15-year-old human Barbie from South London

You could be forgiven for thinking you are looking at a life-size china figurine. But Venus is a living,
breathing 15-year-old girl, who chooses to style herself as a ‘living doll’.

And this isn’t something she does in the privacy of her British bedroom — she uploads footage of herself on to the
internet and has gained a cult following around the world. At last count, Venus’s free internet TV channel had around
30,000 viewers, and her social networking pages 20,000 followers. Her online tutorials showing how to mimic her look
have been watched 10 million times across the globe. It’s all rather strange and a little bit disturbing.

Her success has led to some negative comments from parents as well as childcare professionals online. Also, there were
some bad messages from older men who were trying to meet her.
