Police arrested 143 suspects in connection with various unlawful activities, after an overnight sting operation that ended in the wee-hours of Thursday morning.

The raid was part of continuing efforts by the men in blue to keep crime off the streets, said the police in a statement on Thursday.

Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) led the 12-hour long, island-wide operation, which involved 168 men and women from the Singapore Police Force and other law enforcement agencies such as the Central Narcotics Bureau's supervision division. The operation started on Wednesday evening.

Police said the 143 suspects comprised persons of various nationalities, who were suspected to have committed various offences including involvement in gang-related activities, infringing the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act, breaching immigration laws and participating in vice-related activities.
