14-year-old who was kidnapped and sexually assaulted, dies
A 14-year-old girl, who was allegedly kidnapped and sexually assaulted near her school at Tirthahalli, passed away on Friday.
The victim was studying in eighth standard. On Wednesday morning, she was kidnapped by three unidentified persons from the vicinity of her school. The culprits later left her at a plantation near the school and fled.
In his police complaint, the victim’s father has said that his daughter was forced to consume a soft drink laced with sedative, following which she was molested. When she said she was feeling unwell, she was admitted to a hospital in Manipal for treatment on Thursday night. However, she failed to respond to treatment and passed away on Friday evening, the police said.
Based on the father’s complaint, the Tirthahalli Town Police have registered cases under sections 302 (murder) and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act against three unidentified persons.
On Saturday, various organisations protested against the incident at Tirthahalli.
