She had been released from prison only last year after serving an 11-year sentence for a series of pickpocketing offences.

But barely a year later, former lounge hostess Tan Yoke Lan was back to her old tricks - befriending elderly men and hugging them before stealing their money.

On Thursday, the 53-year-old was sent back to prison, this time for 12 years of preventive detention.

She had stolen some $4,000 from 11 elderly men from May to October this year.
