12 injured in Chinese tour bus crash

Taitung, Aug. 23 (CNA) A tour bus that crashed in eastern Taiwan's Taitung County Friday left the bus driver and 11 Chinese tourists slightly injured, local government officials said that day.
The driver of the bus carrying 38 tourists and one tour guide from China's Anhui Province lost control between Taitung and Hualien counties and smashed into a utility pole and a transformer box near the Sanxiantai area that morning, the officials said.
The injured were taken to the Taitung Hospital, while the rest continued on their trip, organized by Taipei-based Cola Tours.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
