Police arrested 11 people - 7 men and 4 women aged between 18 and 59 - who are believed to be involved in loansharking activities.

In 2 separate cases, officers from the Jurong Police Division nabbed suspects who are believed to have used bank accounts to facilitate loansharking syndicates, said the police in a statement on Tuesday.

On Monday, officers followed up on prior investigations and mounted an island-wide search of housing estates in Clementi, Bukit Batok, Commonwealth, Serangoon and Pasir Ris.

They arrested 10 suspects who are believed to have opened up bank accounts and given away their Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards and Personal Identification Numbers (PIN) to loansharking syndicates.

Investigations against these suspects are still ongoing.
