A food poisoning scare hit the Singapore Sports School recently, after 106 students fell ill from eating catered meals in school.
The students complained of symptoms such as diarrhoea, abdominal pain, headache and nausea, between Nov 1 and Nov 3. The cases were reported and referred to the Ministry of Health (MOH).
11 students had to seek outpatient treatment for their symptoms, but all students have since recovered.
According to a statement released yesterday, MOH said it is working with the National Environment Agency (NEA) to investigate the food poisoning incident involving a licensed caterer, ISS Catering Services Pte Ltd operating at the Singapore Sports School.
According to a report in Shin Min Daily News, the school's principal had ordered a clean up of the kitchen over the long weekend, and normal operations have since resumed.
Students at the Singapore Sports School have to stay in campus during the week, and have three their meals catered in school.
After the cases were discovered, the school stopped all catering services as a precaution and bought packed meals for students on Nov 4.
