10 finalists from TNP New Face 2009

THEY were supposed to hunt for their successors. Instead, 10 finalists from The New Paper New Face 2009
became the hunted when they hit the streets yesterday.​

​

As part of this year's The New Paper New Face talent-scouting team, last year's finalists
- divided into two groups - scoured Orchard Road for girls to join the contest.​

​

Little did they know that some girls were seeking them too. The New Paper had reported on Friday that last year's New Face finalists would be at the stretch of Orchard Road between Ion Orchard and Ngee Ann City from 1pm yesterday.​

​

There will be a walk-in audition at Suntec City Mall's Galleria Foyer on Saturday. Registration begins at 1 pm.

Those who were talent-scouted were given a "passport" to round two of the auditions.​

​

Friends of last year's finalists also went down to Orchard Road to try their luck.

​

Marketing executive Lucy Low, 21, and Vivien Ong, 19, a student, were both given passports.
They are friends of last year's finalist Christine Tan, 22, a student.​

Said Miss Low: "We're very excited because we weren't sure if we're good enough."

Student Galissa Seth, 19, who had previously been "scouted" by Nur Farhanah Zulkffli, 18,
one of last year's finalists, made her way down after school and was selected as well.​

​

Said Miss Seth: "Farhanah contacted me on Facebook and encouraged me to go for the hunt and audition after we met at a dinner.

"I'm very excited and hopeful."​

​

Student Phyllis Bah, 20, was walking with her boyfriend when last year's finalists approached her. She said: "I'm surprised but happy to be spotted because I'm a very shy person." Those who missed their chance need not despair.​

The girls had caught up over a meal at Skinny Pizza at Wheelock Place, taken pictures and slathered on sunblock.
