视频显示，这名女乘客先是在自助餐厅赤脚抓挠脚底脱皮部位，随后直接用没有清洗的手拿起一片披萨继续进食。
另一段视频则拍到，她顺手拿起自助餐厅的金属叉子，在大庭广众之下，用叉子反复抓挠脚底。
事件曝光后，不少网民纷纷怒斥女乘客的行为极不卫生，也有网民表示，这起事件彻底改变了他们对自助餐的看法。一名网民就写道：“以后大家真的应该自己带塑料汤匙和叉子。”
公司介入 回收涉事餐具
嘉年华邮轮随后也在Instagram发表声明回应，证实团队在得知事件后，已立即介入，与涉事乘客沟通，并回收餐具，不再投入使用。公司也在声明中强调，卫生与清洁对公司而言绝非儿戏。“我们的船员每天都努力维持船队的高卫生标准，确保所有乘客都能享有安全、干净和舒适的假期。”
据报道，嘉年华邮轮近年来已针对危害船上安全及卫生的行为，采取越来越严格的管理措施。2023年就曾有乘客被拍到站在客房阳台钓鱼，事后遭游轮公司永久禁止乘搭旗下游轮。
根据嘉年华邮轮的乘客行为守则，违规乘客可能被处以500美元（约646新元）罚款、限制留在客房，甚至被要求中途离船。

According to AOL, the incident occurred on a Carnival Cruise Line ship. The passenger who filmed the incident uploaded it to Instagram, where it has been viewed over 20 million times.
The video shows the female passenger scratching the peeling skin on the soles of her feet barefoot in the buffet restaurant before picking up a slice of pizza with her unwashed hands and eating it.
Another video showed her picking up a metal fork from the buffet and repeatedly scratching her feet with it in public.
After the incident was exposed, many netizens condemned the female passenger's behavior as extremely unhygienic. Some netizens also said that this incident completely changed their views on buffets. One netizen wrote, "From now on, everyone should really bring their own plastic spoons and forks."
Carnival Cruise Line subsequently issued a statement on Instagram, confirming that after learning of the incident, the team immediately intervened, communicated with the passenger involved, and recalled the tableware, which would no longer be used.
The company also emphasized in the statement that hygiene and cleanliness are not trivial matters for the company. "Our crew works hard every day to maintain high hygiene standards for the fleet to ensure that all passengers enjoy a safe, clean, and comfortable vacation."
According to reports, Carnival Cruise Line has taken increasingly strict management measures in recent years against behaviors that endanger onboard safety and hygiene. In 2023, a passenger was filmed fishing on a cabin balcony and was subsequently permanently banned from sailing on Carnival's ships.
According to Carnival Cruise Line's passenger code of conduct, passengers who violate the rules may be fined US$500 (approximately S$646), restricted from staying in their cabins, or even asked to disembark mid-journey.
