had to thank Lieutenant General Claire Lee Chennault who commanded the Flying Tigers during the war. US dept of Commerce and the Missionaries ( Chiang Kai Shek only real American friends ) contributed a lot to building the ROC airforce during that time.

But now ROC airforce sucks due to US and others withholding newer aircraft and other weapon from ROC. Read in Taipei Times yesterday that ROC this week just received delivery of their modified E2C Hawkeye aircraft designated as E2K (formerly E2T) with 8 blades propellers and new electronics. Another 2 will be going to US for this modification which takes about 1.5 years. I pity them, ROC has money but cannot buy new platforms.
