KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14 — Federal police Bukit Aman has today confirmed they have commenced investigations against actor Zul Huzaimy over a violent remark against non-Muslims he allegedly made during a pro-PAS rally in Terengganu.

Police secretary Datuk Noorsiah Saaduddin said the matter is being investigated under Section 506 and Section 505© of the Penal Code for intent to incite others to commit any offence against any persons and criminal intimidation respectively.

She also said the case is being probed under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for improper use of network facilities.

“The investigation is being handled by Bukit Aman’s classified criminal investigation unit, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the CID's Prosecution and Law Divisions,” she said in a statement here.

Zul had on November 4 told a “Teguh Pertahan” event by Terengganu PAS in Kemaman that he harboured a wish to “slaughter infidels” and that it was only the law that could stop him from doing so.

Following public backlash, Zul was forced to issue an apology posted on his Instagram account earlier today.

He claimed that the contentious portion of his speech was taken out of context, and that he was only directing his remark to “kafir harbi” and not all non-Muslims.

The term “kafir harbi” was historically used to describe “infidels” or non-Muslims who can be slain for opposing Prophet Muhammad and the will of the Islamic God, as opposed to the accommodating “kafir dhimmi”.

In directing his opposition to “kafir harbi”, Zul gave the example to a group of non-Muslims who had allegedly made noise in front of a mosque in Penang. He did not provide any details backing his accusation.

He also said he does not support any Islamic extremists who wish to go on a murder spree, and said he has ethnic Chinese relatives and friends to assert himself not being racist.
