When an innocuous filmmaker was arrested and taken into custody for covering the SMRT bus strikes, they intentionally kept her much longer, fed her food and drinks. The authorities realised that Kirsten Han was contacting her wide circle of activists via phone, email etc and providing regular sitreps. It was a great opportunity as the World press as well activists outside Singapore were involved. Its was an intelligence gathering exercise. No one seemed to note that the detainees was allowed to caller friends using her phone to provide updates of her detention.
