Istana open house on August 7
The Istana grounds will be open to the public on Sunday, 7 August 2011 from 8.00am to 6.00pm, to celebrate Singapore's National Day.
The annual Istana Art Event will also be incorporated during the proceedings of the open house.
There will a wide variety of engaging art activities, including an On-the-Spot Art Competition, ancient Chinese coin making and crafting of a tengkolok.
There will also be performances by the SAF Music and Drama Company, Pioneer Secondary School Concert Band (Wind Symphony), Regent Secondary School Band and NTU Symphonic Band.
The Jurong Bird Park will also be hosting an exhibit of birds.
Admission is free for Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents. Others will be charged an entrance fee of $1 per person. Visitors who wish to tour selected function rooms in the Istana building to view a display of gifts presented to the President and the Prime Minister by foreign dignitaries can do so at a fee of $2.
Entrance to the Istana is via the main gate at Orchard Road. The nearest MRT station is Dhoby Ghaut Station.
