PM's empty Prudence Rules - External Responsibilites of a PAP MP

Bear in mind these are/were responsibilities of a single PAP MP and I let you guess who is the MP. One has to wonder why the PM even bothers to publish a tome on Rules on Prudence. Note his directorships at the bottom.

Are we are dealing with a superhuman or the abuse of an official state position. This person also draws salaries from 3 different occupations and does not include the MPs salary or the fees for directorship.

We also not talking about a scholar calibre but someone who was a school teacher and who could not string a proper sentence of English. So why are companies offering directorship. So how did this school teacher who became an MP was found fit to sit on a company board.

Is the PM making a fool of his own citizens? You decide.

While he may have started off as a teacher, it's pretty obvious that the PAP quickly became aware of his extraordinary abilities once he became an MP.

It would be a waste not to make full use of his wisdom by making it available to as many organisations as possible. Very often, a few words of advice is all that's necessary to steer a board in the right direction. The esteemed MP wouldn't have to sit through all the board meetings from beginning to end. All that would be required would be for him to turn up at an appointed time, deliver a few choice words in a concise manner and lo and behold, it could well make a difference between boom and bust.

You should give credit where credit is due.

Like I said before corruption of the PAP is to the core. The decadence and collapse is increasing in speed. Does not matter if they like to roll out the army or ISD. We are becoming like the Philippines.

It sounds like a fart, quick, precise and loud - which make a difference to the ambience in board meeting. However, it will take greater courage for the board members to tell the advisor or director it was smelly even to the day voting was held.

Let us do some simple math. Assume Singapore is first world and does 40 hour week. You need a meeting once a week for each organization to receive updates and let us make meetings at 30 minutes each session. There are 64 positions listed. So just based on meeting time, it is 32 hours. 5 minutes to move between each meeting gives you 5 hours 20 minutes - I so kind. And 5 hours lunch time each 5-day week. Total? 42 hours a 5-day week spent on attending meetings and doing lunch. So, how much time is spent doing real work as MP and how much time is spent doing real work for these 64 organizations. If you say all the organizations are auto-pilot, then you are slapping LKY who claims that nothing is auto-pilot in Singapore's success. If you say it is not, are you going to tell me you devote at least 1 hour to each organization a 5-day week, making that 64 hours? Are you trying to tell me you sleep 14 hours on a 5-day week or 2.8 hours a day on a 5-day week? If you work weekends, then you are not promoting Swiss standard of living. If you tell me you do not sleep during the 5-day week, I do not want you in any position as 48 hours of sleep deprivation makes you clinically insane and it means you promote slave labor in Singapore. So either you are skiving or a mad man working in key positions - neither conclusion is acceptable.

One look at him and you will know that he is a superhuman with superhuman qualities able to divide himself effectively in many places in a single space time continuum.

If one goes thru the list, the range of interest is immense. Buddhist, Taoist, Consumers, Tourist Guides, Egg suppliers, tobacco, motor industry, water industry, furniture, chinese medicine, mental health, sports, migrant, restaurants, charity, taxi ..................

The only things missing are massage parlours, funeral blankets, nuclear reactors, space exploration.... if these were included he would have covered the entire human activity spectrum.

Compared to him, the rest of us pale in comparison ans should be a shame of ourselves. As Sam said, give credit where it is due.

In fact, he need not even attend any of the meetings. Just having his name on the board already is a door opener. Patronage is the name of the game.

PAP MPs like Yeo Guat Kwang illustrate the value of effective time management.

Likes of Warren Buffett or Angela Merkel or Barrack Obama should come take lessons from Yeo Guat Kwang on time management. Especially Merkel and Obama, then they too might aspire to earn as much as a Yeo Guat Kwang.

Merkel earns just over S$30,000 a month. Which is one fifth that of a Singapore cabinet minister and almost definitely less than the total monthly income of a single PAP MP.

I wonder how the leader of Europe's largest economy dares cling on to any dignity when talking to a PAP backbencher. Yeo Guat Kwang may not even give Merkel the time of the day!
