SINGAPORE - A 31-year-old Indian man was arrested after two members of public helped to detain him.
The suspect had attempted to rob a 25-year-old Chinese woman along Tiong Bahru Road on May 21 at around 9pm. He assaulted her on the head after approaching her from behind.
The victim then fell to the ground while he tried to remove her belongings. He fled without her belongings after she cried for help.
Two members of public then helped the victim to look out for the suspect. They detained the suspect after he was spotted at the unction of Eng Hoon Street and Tiong Poh Road.
The victim suffered bruises on her knees and ankles.
The suspect will be charged in Court on May 23 for Attempted Robbery with Hurt under the Penal Code.
He can be jailed between five to 20 years, and can also be caned up to 12 strokes. He has been remanded for investigations.
