Candidates spotted in eight constituencies over weekend

CANDIDATES of the Workers' Party (WP) fanned out over the weekend across all eight constituencies that the party is preparing to do battle in at the next general election.
It is the clearest sign yet that the opposition outfit - which had declined to reveal to the media where it will be conducting its outreach over the weekend - looks set to field its biggest slate in over 20 years, with 23 candidates contesting four group representation constituencies (GRCs) and four single-seat wards.
Over the last three days, The Straits Times spotted some WP candidates in some of the constituencies the party has staked claims on, and also spoke to more than 40 shopkeepers and sources who saw various candidates.
