I don't want to sound like a "China Basher" because I bash all nations, races and religions.

This is from a close HK friend of mine. We became close friends from almost a decade of being beer and motorsports fans buddies in Canada.

Growing up in HK, just next to the Dragon, his family is quite well-off and purchase name brand stuff mostly. However when it comes to foodstuff, they ensure that they do not buy China made. This even applies to popular name brand soy sauce sold in HK because Chinese fakes are there! This is quite scary for HKers as the proximity means they will not escape from the frequent imitations on the shelves. According to him, it is rampant and goes back as far as he can remember.

what's considered fake, what's considered real?

is it just an innocent case of re-branding n re-packaging or a more sinister case of using (harmful) ingredient instead of the approved ones? ie: the recent milk scandal of using melamine to bump up protein figures during tests.

i think some credit must be given to them. case in point, the young man creating a phone addon module to the iTouch to make it a "iTouchPhone".

For foods no one willing to buy if they know. That 100% sure. Fake foods is seller/manufacturing try to con consumer.
But for electronic/clothing then have to blame consumer in China so do the consumer worldwide since all fake good travel worldwide.
If cannot buy branded bag like LV/prada any other bag also can do right. So blame consumer
For software that cost hundred( Window to Thousand of $$$). That I have nothing to said blame the copyright pricing so high how to expect any student or poor family to buy. If no pirated software 80% PC user now will be IT idiot.
Correct me if I wrong. If no pirated software the PC user only about 20% of the total current user. Because too expensive each PC will cost at least $5k. So do the computer speed maybe now only Pentium 2 because lack of knowledge to improve technology and less demand. So do the many technology/graphic/games. Without pirated software many will be PC idiot.
So pirated software is the win win for consumer and PC manufacturer. From that improvement in games/technology all using computer calculation.

over in japan , we dont have pirated DVD , software , fake branded goods ...ect . why ?because the japanese have higher moral then the PRC . if the japanese cant afford to buy the real stuff , they rather dont buy . and the japanese goverment will never allow to let fake goods flood the market ...unlike CHINA .

you are just looking at the consumers perspective .... if you are the boss of a electronic company , and you have spend 2 years research on a product which you feel proud of ( will you lower your copyright pricing ? after spending so much money and time on a product )..but suddenly another company copy your product , how would you feel ? i dont think you will say that its a fair game ...yes, all coins have two sides , it depends which side you look at it . as a businessman point of view ..i discourage any copy goods .

I'm not sure you can find many receptive to your argument here. The morality of the hoi polloi is predicated on victimhood. You're not gonna get many in society who sympathise with the suffering towkay.
