The sight of Parliamentarians fighting one another during Parliament sessions has been made to appear 'negative' in Singapore. It's as if there is 'bo cheng hu' in Taiwan, and everybody is a gangster, and just everybody can get into Parliament.
Is that really bad in the context of Singapore ?
Imagine, YES, imagine. PM is about to introduce a new Bill in Parliament, and this time round, to reward the ministers with another round of salary increase. As usual, it's all the bulls about GDP figures and how the government has managed on its own to pull out of the financial crisis.
At this point, LTK utters in Teochew: "mai ta lan wei lah" [don't say bird language]. PM is dumbfounded. The Speaker of Parliament issues a warning to LTK. Sylvia steps up and defends LTK. MM thinks it's his moment to play Big Brother. He believes he has the stature to calm all the different factions in Parliament. He steps up and shouts: "Quiet ! Listen to me !". In the midst of commotion, CST who is too frail to shout, discreetly lobs his mobile phone into the air and hits MM on his head. GMS, who is a NCMP by now adds to the commotion and joins the fray. He jumps across the table and pins MBT down on the floor. He rains punches on MBT. WKS realizes short arses are at a disadvantage amidst a stampede. He discreetly filters his way out of crowd and says to himself: "Heng ah ! Ek kia bo lan zu yi tio." [luckily short arses are less conspicuous]. Suddenly, someone taps his shoulder. He turns around and sees one tall figure. He is none other than KJ, who is the MP for don't know which constituency. KJ smiles wickedly at WSK, swings his arm in the direction of WSK and says: "This is for my father !" WSK goes sprawling on the ground and pretends to have lost consciousness so as to escape further abuses. In pain, he murmurs to himself: "CCB, where is this Zorro just when I needed him most !"
Parliament is adjourned and Bill not passed. Opposition : Mission accomplished !
