DBS Bank in Hong Kong has said it will offer full compensation to customers who bought mini-bonds issued by Lehman Brothers. Customers only need to prove to DBS that DBS staff misled them during the sales process (0:23).

This is a very important landmark issue for a number of reason.

a. It will clarify how the existing singapore government treats its own citizens, through the action of MAS.

b. If singapore citizens are denied redress, or compensation not given out by DBS in the same manner as that or the compensation is of a lesser value than that of hong kong investors.

The above would prove that its a lost cause in working to seek changes in the existing government, through forums such as the press.

This is just to save face. Given that Hongkongers are FIERCELY INDEPENDENT when it comes to fighting for their rights and interests, there's little the Papayas can do apart from making full compensation to the Hongkongers. The only worry now is how they will make Sporns to pay for it.

so not everyone who bought it will be compensated.
you have to prove that DBS's staff misled you else no compensation.
the govenment and MAS has to do something about it.
most of those who bought it are old folks,who do not even know anything about bonds and what they are for.
