NTU staff member charged with corruption and abetment to cheat

SINGAPORE : A staff member of the Nanyang Technological University has been charged with 43 counts of corruption and three counts of abetment to cheat.

Forty—one—year—old Meikkappan Kailasam, a laboratory animal facility manager with the School of Biological Sciences, is accused of accepting gratifications from Manimaran Joseph.

It is believed Meikkappan accepted S$500 from him sometime between November and December 2004.

He allegedly did it so that Manimaran could be employed as the facility’s laboratory animal caretaker.

Meikkappan is believed to have received between S$200 to S$500 a month from Manimaran between June 2005 and November 2008.

It is believed these handouts were rewards for allegedly assisting Manimaran to secure his employment at the facility.

Meikkappan is also accused of abetting him to provide false information on his application form.

It is believed this was done to cheat the department into believing Manimaran had prior work experience for the job.

Meikkappan is alleged to have used similar methods to assist two other laboratory animal caretakers, Manickam Vennila and Panchatcharam Manisekaran, to get jobs at the university.

A pre—trial conference has been scheduled for May 20.

Meikkappan is now out on a S$15,000 bail.

If convicted of corruption, Meikkappan could be jailed up to five years and fined a maximum of S$100,000.

And if found guilty of abetment to cheat, he could be jailed up to seven years and fined.

we have this in NTU and many more cases in other companies for sure. As i said previously, a lot of these Indians have credentials that are doubtful and worse, forged and fake. Let hope this group of Indians will all lose their jobs, spend some time in jail and then packed back to their homeland and never step foot in our country. We can do without them. Hopefully the govt realised what is happening and also the authority. I heard from some sources that those working in the enforcement units are also pissed off with the influx of FTs. So we may see more cases coming as they strive to work hard to kill off as many of them as possible too as a private agenda.

Not so wonder neh.

They should check other companies especially the BANKS where there are large presence of such Baboons.

don't know about yours but my forefathers did not cheat and lie to build this country.
