THIRTEEN spas have stepped forward to bail out customers of spa chain Wax in the City that closed down in March, leaving about 4,000 customers stranded.

Forming the new Spa, Beauty and Wellness (SBW) Alliance, these spa owners with 34 outlets around the island, aim to help other spas should they fold up in the future.

The alliance, which expects more members to join them, will also serve as a watchdog for the spa industry.

Details have yet to be ironed out, but it has been reported that the association has been working with an 'appropriate insurance body and other appropriate organisations' to design an insurance policy for the alliance members.

Hey I got interesting title but boring news content .

What kind of stories you will like to hear ?

All free treatment are gimmick or just as as promotion. Many are not free they just give discount/only up to 2 time free treatment/buy package to continue the contract at discount.
Will any spa give free treatment end the contract - answer NO.
At the same time they are saving theirs business because no consumer/less customer willing to buy package after the incident.
Insurance for spa company only making them more expensive.

This is yet another common Oriental scam. Setup a biz, offer attractive packages and collect full payment up front. When the target receipts have been met, simply fold the biz and leave the customer stranded.

The 13 (what a lucky number?) spa alliance have caught on the game and have correctly analyzed there is still room to fleece the Ah Lian/Beng further with even more packages. Nothing is for free, a Chink will tell you and the "insurance" is yet another scam to bilk your hard earned money.

correction. ah beng don't go for waxing. we are not as hairy as you.

Customer cheated I'm not pity them. Because almost all are rich if not sure they cannot afford to sign up.
Why want to sign up because of the 20~30% discount. But have to pay upfront cost actually many have been cheated same as car wash/wax before.
So lesson never pay for the service not done.
