AN UNLICENSED employment agent was charged in court on Tuesday with carrying on the agency about a month after his conviction for a similar offence. Liew Fook, 39, is alleged to have run the agency between August 2008 and July last year when his conviction on July 18, 2008 had not been set aside. As a subsequent offender, he can be fined up to $10,000 and/or jailed for up to six months if convicted. Liew, who was unrepresented, sought a one-month adjournment to get help from his Member of Parliament. He will appear in court again on May 4.
