Shing Fui-On 成奎安 dies of cancer

Aug. 28 -- Hong Kong actor Fui-On Shing, 54, died of nasopharyngeal carcinoma at 23:45 Thursday evening, five years after being diagnosed with the disease.

Shing reportedly spent his last minutes with his family and friends in Hong Kong Baptist Hospital, where several close friends in the entertainment industry, including Alan Tam, Eric Tsang, and Nick Cheung, also accompanied him, according to sina.com.
In 2004, Shing was diagnosed with terminal stage nasopharyngeal and told he had only four months to live.
But with his optimistic character, Shing prolonged his life by four years and seemingly created a miracle.
Two years ago, he even shot two more films, namely "The Detective" and "Crazy Money & Funny Men."
Shing, well-known among many Chinese born in the 1970s and 1980s, started his show biz career 31 years ago and often played the roles of gang leaders as he was usually described as a tall, muscular man.

He was mainly known for supporting roles and had only held one leading role in his entire career in the movie "The Blue Jean Monster."
Shing performed in more than 350 films and 600 soap operas episodes.

　　1983年，成奎安在电影《吉人天相》中首次扮演了“大傻”这个角色。1987年，他在港片《监狱风云》中再度出演“大傻”，也至此留下了“大傻”这个和他伴随一生的绰号。同年，他还出演了《英雄本色》续集，再次巩固了他在影迷心目中的地位，此后以金牌配角的身份一路走红。
　　在1989年上映的吴宇森名作《喋血双雄》中，成奎安饰演的黑社会老大；在片尾，他把杀手小庄(周润发饰)的眼睛故意一枪打烂，而断了体无完肤的小庄死前最后的一点愿望(把眼睛角膜留给以前在他杀手生涯中误伤眼睛的歌星珍妮)。因此，片尾时，警长李鹰(李修贤饰)在警察面前宁可被控告，也一枪击毙作恶多端的“大傻”。成奎安演“恶人”够狠，堪称入木三分，他在该片中穷凶极恶的表演，赢得了舆论的一致赞赏。

　　回顾多年的演艺历程，成奎安表示自己最满意的电影是《公家饭》和吴宇森导演的《喋血双雄》。尽管演过老师、神父、公安、医生等很多正面角色，许多观众还是习惯将“大傻”成奎安与反派联系在一起。成奎安坦言：“刚开始有些观众会害怕我，了解之后就好多了。”成奎安表示自己其实更喜欢演配角：“我只演过三次主角，拍摄时间长又辛苦，演配角可能十天八天就收工了。我也喜欢演喜剧，不需要像演反派打打杀杀那么累。”

大傻不傻，大傻很善良
初次见到大傻，是在一个活动上，由于看过他饰演的很多反面角色，那个凶神恶煞的样子已经给我留下很深的印象。当我看到他的时候，本能的有点害怕，甚至有点躲闪。后来经过朋友介绍，慢慢聊起来以后，我才认识到，原来大傻并不是坏人，大傻是一个很仗义的性情中人。
回忆往事，我和大傻曾经有过一段“同病相怜”的经历。那是在01年的时候，我的腰受了严重的伤，几乎永远都站不起来，那是我生命中一段灰色的日子。
有一次我去香港碰到大傻，他告诉我他的腰也不好，听了我的伤势以后，便热情的教给我一些对腰伤有好处的汤和中药。聊着聊着，他更执意带着我到他家那块区域，去找他认识的一个神医。现在回想起这个可爱的病友，总会油然一笑。在那张大家都认为是很凶恶的脸上，充满了善良。
……

我们再也听不到他用乐观的语气说：我很好，大家放心吧！

大傻走了，带着他可爱的笑容，上了天堂。

NPC is uncommon in the United States and most other nations, but is extremely common in southern regions of China, particularly in Guangdong accounting for 18% of all cancers in China. It is also quite common in Taiwan. This is largely due to the South East Asian diet which typically includes consumption of salted vegetables, fish and meat. While NPC is seen primarily in middle-aged persons in Asia, a high proportion of African cases appear in children. The cause of increased risk for NPC in these endemic regions is not entirely clear.

You forgot one more trait of NPC or the Canton cancer; usually males and has a higer risk level.

Offsprings who have genetic origins from Guandong are also at risk.
