NDP and the personality cult of Lee Kuan Yew

For those of you who have watched last night’s National Day Parade (as well as previous years), you will not fail to realize a recurring theme: the images of MM Lee Kuan Yew either from the past or the present.

He was shown no less than 5 times on TV including a 1 minute clip of he making a speech in 1965 which must be familiar to most Singaporeans by now.

The mainstream media has spent no efforts to ensure that he continues to get prominent coverage:

An entire contingent of PAP members holding the party banners was included in the parade as well. Isn’t NDP supposed to be a non-partisan event for all Singaporeans regardless of political affliations? Why then only the PAP contingent is allowed to the exclusion of other political parties?

The subtle building of a personality cult around MM Lee over the years by repeated state propaganda seemed to have the aim of reminding Singaporeans, especially the young, that we owe our success today solely to him.

Our Legend Lee Kuan Yew's speech and words of wisdom are always meaningful and fulfilled. That has shown the great Legend and the PAP has always meant what they have said and all of us trusted them. The mass majority of the people in Singapore has made the right choice of supporting them. Well done Singaporeans and the great PAP. 3 cheers for everyone.

Your articles are the same - regurgitating the obvious observations that everyone knows. Wasting everybody's time.

Your strength has been to sensationalise petty things like Lee Bee Wah, petition at Hong Lim, the burnt MP etc. church visit scoop. Why don't you follow "Gutteruncensored" site whose forte is similar to yours - exposing petty personalities. The good part is that they don't pretend to be journalist.

Also your new website name is not relevant to what you do. At least your old name "Wayangparty" had mischief built into it.

As petty political scandals are few and far between, why don't you cover things like which singapore personality is going to the Margaret Drive Church, shopping with Gong Li or snippets of issues in horse racing doping scandal, the actual fat content in MacDonald's Ice Cream etc.

Also too similar to SingaporeReview where the articles are he obvious - Nothing insightfull. Pointless having 2 of the same.

Before the days of MERDEKA!, PAP was an oppostion, and it was just another political party....not all SINgaporeans voted for the PAP.

It is never wise for any nation, past, present or future to have only one political party running the country, or even one dynasty running; it will eventually lead to decay , anarchy & sufferings for the people.

The majority here are manufactured...
