<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->SMRT trains are not cool enough during peak hours, and SMRT needs to improve air-conditioning during these times.
Despite numerous complaints from commuters about trains that are stuffy and not cool enough during peak hours, I still often encounter air-con problems during train rides.
Either the temperature is set too high, or the fan speed is too low or the air-con system is faulty.
SMRT has stated that train air-con temperature is currently set at 24 deg C. This is not low enough during peak hours when trains are packed and doors are left open longer for boarding and alighting. Often, commuters squashed against the doors in a packed train feel extreme discomfort as they hardly get any cool air.
SMRT should lower the temperature setting to 22 or 23 deg C and ensure that the fan speed is set to high during peak hours. It should not compromise on commuters' basic comfort in the name of conserving energy or cost-cutting.
