Lee Hsien Yang has joined ANZ Banking Group's board following his appointment last November.

A director of Singapore Exchange Ltd, Mr Lee joined the board on Sunday.

The Fraser and Neave Ltd chairman and director of Islamic Bank of Asia Ltd was formerly chief executive of Singapore Telecommunications Ltd.

He joins Peter Hay, Alison Watkins and Sir Rod Eddington as new directors.

Sir Rod will succeed Charles Goode as chairman, probably in 2010.

ANZ has the largest Asian operations of the big Australian banks.
