Does been secular imply that it is right to be neutral on homosexuality?

The society and value system need to make a STAND

Not really. It only means that we keep religion out of it.

There will always be value systems as well as personal experiences. Both of these will influence our feelings regarding homosexuality.

But the moment we bring in religion, we will hit the issue of my religion says can, why yours say cannot? we are of the same religion yet my leader says can why yours say cannot? You are a believer of religion. Therefore you are a zealot or bigot or whatever. And so on, and so on. Name calling comes in. Making a complex issue more complex.

But if we try to keep it secular, there is a possibility, only a possibility that we can reach a more amiable consensus. Or at least flesh out the issues so that we can then go back and examine using our own belief system.

Worth a try.

These are some of the areas i can think of if you want to argue on a secular basis:

For

• rights of homosexuals to a good life
• freedom of choice

Against

• unhealthy influence especially on the marginal homosexual
• not pro-family
• against procreation policies of the Government
• not in the natural scheme of things

A little more thought can turn out more arguments, both for and against.

Unfortunately people's decisions are based on beliefs, not logic. As such, the best that can be hoped for is to give enough evidence for further investigations and discussions. Hopefully for the individual, sufficient to make a more reasoned judgment.

Nature has given human beings the appropriate organs to procreate. If homosexuality is natural then men would have been given an additional orifice and women an extra appendage. But this did not happen. So homosexuality is unnatural. It goes against the natural order. It is a choice for those so called liberals who practise it.
Although we have 377A that prohibits it, our society has so far been tolerant. That is the stand the law takes. If 377A is repealed it will mean the law condoning the practice of homosexuality legally. We will soon see gays kissing and making out in Orchard Rd and public places. What will be the impact on the mind of our straight kids? And soon it may mean legalising gay marriages and adoption of kids. And worst still some day we may have to accept and condone bestiality as a free choice of the perverse. Do we really need and want these?
