Netizens have branded a Facebook post put up by Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) and Second Minister for Defence Ong Ye Kung as “fake news”.

On Tuesday [Sept 12], Mr Ong posted a photo of an underwater iceberg on Facebook.


His caption stated that the photo “came from a former colleague, who in turn got it from a rig manager working on an offshore rig at Newfoundland.”

He continued: “This iceberg is estimated to weigh 300,000,000 tons. The sea was calm, sun directly overhead, and the diver managed to get a perfect shot.”

However, netizens recognised the image to be one produced in 1999 by Ralph A. Clevenger, a professional nature and underwater photographer. It is not a single photograph, but instead, a composite of four separate photographs.

OYK claimed that the photo came from a former colleague who go it from a rig manager working out of Newfoundland. And he is a cabinet minister. What other nonsense do these cabinet minister listen to.

The rig manager got it from the town butcher who got it from a tourist who got it from a man who collects toothpicks.

This the same cabinet minister who organised a football match with a Malay orphanage and played in the game with young orphans and press were called to cover it. As though he plays with them regularly. Master of spin going out of spin.

aiyah. clevenger himself admitted it was photoshopped and a fake. sky from santa barbara where he lives, water from dives in santa barbara, top part of iceberg from antarctica, bottom part is actually a part of a massive iceberg above water in alaska. he cut out part of the alaska iceberg, flipped it, resized it and pasted it as though it was underwater.
