I know that this has been mentioned before but it bears reminding again. Looking at the history of the farcical reserved elected President, we can see the following things that happened:
November 7[SUP]th[/SUP]-9[SUP]th[/SUP] 2016 – Parliament holds 3 days of debates regarding amendments to the EP to enable minority (Muslim only) candidates starting with the next elections. As well, other qualifications criteria were raised including running a company with $500 million in shareholders equity. This criteria in effect made it so difficult for private sectors to qualify that the only available pool of candidates were going to come from the ranks of the PAP. On the 9[SUP]th[/SUP], Parliament voted on this amendment and approved it. Among the yeas was Halimah Yacob. Halimah voted on this amendment knowing full well that she and a only a few other PAP seniors can qualify to run in the
Reserved Election.
February 6[SUP]th[/SUP] 2017 – In Parliamentary speeches, Minister Chan Chun Sing repeatedly calls Halimah Yacob Madam President instead of Madam Speaker. CCS’s Freudian slip was not punished or censured by the Speaker or the House Whip. Halimah claims to be totally independent if she should win the Presidency. However, in a room filled with her PAP colleagues, non of them seemed too shocked or surprised that one of their own was calling her Madam President. Therefore, if she was already intending to run as a President, she should have not voted yea in the November parliamentary hearings.
August 7[SUP]th[/SUP] 2017 – Halimah says she will resign as Speaker to run in the elections. She then says she has been certified 4 times by the Community Committee to say that she is a Malay and therefore eligible. However, all 16 members of this committee were appointed by her boss Lee Hsien Loong while she was still a member of the PAP. Clearly, this was a non independent committee, non elected committee, with all members appointed by the Secretary General of the PAP. Being certified by the non partisan PAP appointed committee is an incredible conflict of interest. No such fancy committee has to be formed to certify her. All she has to do is show her IC and let everyone see on it whether it says Malay or Indian under race. If it says Malay, then no one has a problem with it.
In summary, she help draft and facilitate a fake debate and then voted Yea to a bill that was so stringent in its criteria that only a handful of Malays in the whole country can qualify, her being one. She then made sure she would meet the criteria of the new bill she just helped pass by having her boss appoint only PAP lackeys to the committee that will certify her as a qualified candidate. Finally, she resigns to run in an election that she helped passed into law. What a clown this woman is? She is a bad example to all Muslims. How can she claim to be a Muslim and worship Allah when she is so dishonest with herself and with the people?
