The European Union Parliament wants to reinstate visas for Americans traveling into the 28-nation bloc, arguing that the U.S. still requires citizens of five E.U. member nations to apply for an entry visa.
Lawmakers passed a non-binding resolution on Thursday calling for the E.U. Commission to impose visas on U.S. citizens by May, ahead of the summer tourist season. The vote stems from a transatlantic dispute over the fact that the U.S. currently requires citizens of Croatia, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, and Poland to obtain visas before visiting.

The Commission says that it will pursue a diplomatic resolution, Reuters reports, which makes it unlikely that they would act on the vote by the May deadline. Furthermore, if the visa requirement was introduced, it would be temporary, the E.U. says.

EU lawmakers vote to scrap visa-free travel for Americans to Europe

The European Parliament has passed a non-binding resolution calling on Brussels to force Americans to apply for visas before visiting Europe unless Washington adheres to a visa reciprocity policy and stops discriminating against eastern EU citizens.
The resolution, passed by a show of hands, demands equal treatment and reciprocity for all EU citizens from Washington as the US continues to refuse visa-free access to people from Poland, Croatia, Bulgaria, and Romania, along with Cyprus. Other 23 EU member states can enter the US using the Visa Waiver Programme (VWP).

The European lawmakers urged the EU Commission to adopt the necessary legal measures “within two months” to limit American visa-free travel to Europe.


“The EU Commission is legally obliged to take measures temporarily reintroducing visa requirements for US citizens, given that Washington still does not grant visa-free access to nationals of five EU countries,” the EU parliament said in a press release.

The violation of VWP was first reported in April 2014, when the European Commission was notified that five countries, including the US, were not meeting their obligations to allow all EU nationals visa-free entry. American nationals, however, are still allowed to enter the EU without obtaining a visa.

Just like everyone else, the EU Ang Mohs figured out that the so call Protection by USA is completely ineffective and unreliable, and they can do without that self-deceptive false security entirely, making do physical difference at all. Why give concession to US when the conflict of interest is rising and dependency / protection is entirely fucked off, why? US is just nothing but a pain in the ass burden for EU already. A tremendous source of troubles.

EU can look at Singapore today, where SG morons from LKY onwards, dream of USA protection, today, Singapore is cleaning Huge Oil Leak from US Navy accident, have to pull out their dead sailors' corpses from their wrecked USS John S McCain. Clean up all their shit, and rescue the US Navy, instead of US Navy rescuing the SAF pussies. Presence of US bases only made Singapore a attractive target for Al Qaeda ISIS Taliban JI, plus PLA & Putin's nukes. It is really much more Pain In The Ass burdens then help. The US navy added only marine time accidents instead of extra safety for that so called (Ex) World's Busiest Port.

This is why the EU keeps tripping over principles at their own expenses. The Brexit was for similar reasons. The damage is going to be on the European side as Americans tourists wouldn't bother applying for visas to visit as it will be troublesome.

Those in American on corporate and business travel visits would generally have their companies applying for these visas anywhere.
